Post by aashish97 » Sat Apr 25, 2020 11:41 am

Hello All,

I have received client queries which focuses on use of Facebook in a more stringent way like restrictions on Facebook videos.

Let's first Understand why would someone want to apply such Restrictions.

Now-a-days, Web Applications provide alot of Contents which includes Multimedia Contents as well.

Web 2.0 Application like Facebook provide a lot of multimedia content and if the users accesses such content without Restrictions in a corporate environment ( Business Hours ) it basically reduces productivity.

Such Multimedia content might also include inappropriate contents which should not be accessed in a corporate environment.

Multimedia content also increase unnecessary bandwidth consumption.

This below client discussion explains a client Scenario where blocking of Facebook Multimedia content was one of the Business requirement and how easily SafeSquid can solve these kinds of problem.

---------------

1. Can We Block Multimedia on Facebook using SafeSquid-SWG, it is required by our company policy?

SOLUTION:
----------------

Yes, we can very easily block Multimedia Content on any Website or on all websites.

To Block Multimedia Content Specifically on Facebook
First, we need to Identify Facebook Website

NOTE:
SafeSquid already provides a set of Application Signatures
Which can easily Identify Facebook Website, Facebook Mobile App Etc. and all

STEP 1: Create a Profile to Identify Facebook Website
You can search for all Application Signatures inside Request-Type Field.
In Request-Types Just Select “Facebook” from the Dropdown List
In Response-Types Just Select “ALL MULTIMEDIA CONTENT”

NOTE: In SafeSquid Default Policy We have created Response-Types that can identify Multimedia Contents and it is Named as “ALL MULTIMEDIA CONTENT”.

Set Action to “DO_NOT_BYPASS”
And give the Profile a Name [FACEBOOK MULTIMEDIA BLOCK] as shown below.
